Palestine and Denmark sign a partnership and support agreement worth $72 million

The Palestinian Minister of Finance and Planning, Shukri Bishara, and the representative of Denmark to Palestine, Ketel Carlsen, signed a partnership and support agreement worth $72 million over five years, which includes important sectors in agriculture, local governance and aid to civil society, under the patronage and presence of Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, and local government ministers Majdi Al-Saleh and Agriculture Riyad Attari.


The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed - during the signing of the agreement today, Thursday - that the Danish aid, in its bilateral and European dimensions, is very good. As Europe and Denmark contribute to strengthening the Palestinian national economy on the one hand, and strengthening Palestinian institutions on the other hand; To end the occupation and materialize the establishment of an independent state.


The representative of Denmark expressed his happiness for the opportunity to strengthen the strong partnership between Denmark and Palestine through this important agreement, saying, "We can only achieve our aspirations and ambitions by giving new voice and opportunities to youth and women, with a focus on the very important and long-term task of building the Palestinian state." development, peace and stability.


"The Danish support focuses on supporting human rights, promoting accountability and democracy, creating jobs, as well as promoting peace and stability, with a particular focus on supporting women and youth," he added.


It is noteworthy that Denmark will also provide humanitarian aid through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) worth $82 million for the next five years.
