Former French Prime Minister confirms his support for Macron in the upcoming presidential elections

Former French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has confirmed his support for President Emmanuel Macron in the upcoming presidential elections, French BFM television reported Monday.

Philippe praised the reforms adopted by President Macron in 2017, noting that the reforms were going in the right direction, stressing that he would establish a movement to support Macron, and did not hide his desire to "participate in the formation of this new majority" if Macron was elected president.

It is noteworthy that about forty mayors from the moderate right and from the center met on August 29 in Fontainebleau, in the presence of Edouard Philippe, and promised to structure themselves for greater political “weight” with the approach of the 2022 presidential elections, and to chart a right-leaning political space that supports Emmanuel Macron.
