Iraq records 3 deaths from the black fungus

The spokesman for the Sulaymaniyah Health Directorate in Iraq, Dr. Yad Naqshbandi, announced the registration of the first death from the black fungus in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate.

Naqshbandi said - according to what was reported by the National Iraqi News Agency - that the deceased person was of Arab nationality, at the age of 78, and he was suffering from chronic diseases.

The city of Nasiriyah, the center of Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq, had earlier recorded two deaths from the black fungus.

In a separate context, the Iraqi Ministry of Health recorded 4,170 new infections with the emerging coronavirus (Covid 19), and the ministry recorded 30 new deaths during the past 24 hours, which raised the total number of deaths to 16,405.

The health authorities announced the registration of 4,343 new cases of recovery, and global infections have exceeded 170 million cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.
