Euro 2020 Group F standings: Portugal outperforms on goal difference

The Portuguese team topped Group F, with a goal difference from the French team, after the end of the first round of the European Nations Cup "Euro 2020", which started last Friday and will continue until July 11.

The Portuguese national team won a thrilling victory over its Hungarian counterpart, by three goals to zero, in the match that was held between them on Tuesday evening, at the Puskas Arena in the Hungarian capital Budapest, to collect the first 3 points in the tournament.

Portugal's Rafael Guerreiro scored the hat-trick in the 84th minute of the match, and Cristiano Ronaldo added the second goal through a penalty kick in the 87th minute of the match, and Ronaldo concluded his country's hat-trick in the last minute of the match, making the Italian Juventus star the top scorer in Europe. Throughout history, with 11 goals, two goals behind Michel Platini, the French star, who fell to second place with 9 goals.

The French team came in second place with the same number of points, but is behind on the goal difference, after beating its German counterpart with a clean goal, in the exciting match that brought the two teams together on Tuesday evening, at the Allianz Arena.

France defender Mats Hummels scored the goal in the 20th minute by an own goal, after turning Lucas Hernandez's cross past Manuel Neuer.

Hummels became the owner of the first German reverse goal in the history of the Euro Championships, and the third reverse goal during the current edition of the tournament.

Germany and Hungary remained without points after losing to France and Portugal, respectively.

The matches of the second round in Group F will be held next Saturday, where the French team will play with its Hungarian counterpart at three in the afternoon, while the Portuguese team will play with the German at six in the evening.
