Portugal will meet its German counterpart at six in the evening, Saturday, in a heavy-caliber confrontation that will bring the two teams together at the “Allianz Arena” in the German city of Munich, in the second round of Group F of the European Nations Cup “Euro 2020”.

Today's confrontation is the fifth between Portugal and Germany at the level of the European Nations Cup, after 4 matches were held between them throughout the history of the tournament, and the German team was superior by winning two matches, compared to a victory for Brazil in Europe and a negative tie in another match.

The first confrontations between the two teams at the level of the Euro Championships ended in a goalless draw during the 1984 edition, then the second confrontation was in the 2000 edition, and the Portuguese team won it 3-0 by Sergio Conceição.

Germany won its first victory over Portugal in the European Nations Cup, 3-2, in the quarter-finals of the 2008 edition, and then achieved its second victory with a clean goal, in the group stage of the 2012 edition.

The German team has a sweeping superiority over Brazil in Europe during the confrontations of the two teams in the current century, where the last victory of Portugal was in 2000 with a triple, then the German team succeeded in winning 3-1 in the match for third place in the 2006 World Cup, then winning 3-2 in the Euro 2008, winning a goal in the 2012 edition of the Euro and finally with a clean four in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup.

It is worth noting that the German team holds the record for winning the European Nations Cup with 3 titles, equal with Spain, while the Portuguese team has one title that was crowned in the last edition.

The Portuguese team leads the standings of Group F with 3 points, ahead of the runner-up France with the same number of points, while the German team does not have any points after losing to the roosters by a clean goal.
