Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, player of Italian club Juventus, was keen to bid farewell to the European Nations Championship 2020, after his country’s team was eliminated yesterday at the hands of Belgium in the match that brought them together yesterday in the round of 16.

"We did not get the result we wanted and left the competition sooner than we wanted, but we are proud of our journey," Ronaldo wrote on his personal account on the Instagram website. "We made a great effort to renew the European Champions title, and this group proved that it still gives the Portuguese a lot of happiness."

Ronaldo added in the post he published, “Our fans supported us from the beginning to the end tirelessly, we ran and fought for them, to rise to the level of confidence that they put in us, it was not possible to reach where we all wanted but thank you, congratulations to Belgium and we wish success to all The remaining teams in the competition, as for us, we will come back stronger."

The Portuguese star left with his country early from Euro 2020, and loses the title that he crowned in the 2016 edition, and despite his brilliance in the group stage and scoring 5 goals, he is currently the top scorer in the competition, but he could not lead his country beyond the second round.

According to the Spanish newspaper, AS, the results of Cristiano Ronaldo this season with Juventus and the Portugal national team eliminated his small chances of winning the Golden Ball, and his last award was in 2017 when he was a Real Madrid player, where he crowned it for the fifth time in his career.

And the newspaper continued: With his 36-year-old, it becomes difficult for Ronaldo to fight for the Ballon d'Or in the future.
