The Minister of Antiquities tells "The Seventh Day" how the idea of a parade of royal mummies came about

With the approaching deadline for the transfer of royal mummies on Saturday, April 3, from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, narrated how the idea of transporting mummies in a majestic procession came to draw the attention of the whole world.

Khaled Al-Anani said during his meeting with the seventh day - We stopped at the event of the transfer of royal mummies, and I wanted it to be different from the transfer of other antiquities, and the idea of the royal mummies procession came because of a movie I was watching from a young age about receiving the mummy of King Ramses II when I arrived in Paris in 1976. And the film was a message in which they tell us: Look how we respect your ancestors, when we received an Egyptian mummy, we put a red carpet in the plane, and we fired shots to celebrate it, and we received the reception of the President of the Republic, in celebration of this great Egyptian mummy.

He continued by saying: When my colleagues and I discussed in 2019 about the transfer of royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, I recalled this movie, and I said that this event should take place in a decent manner, for these kings, Ramses II, Ramses III, Amenhotep The third, Seti the First, and Tuthmosis the Third, and others of the 22 mummies that will be transported during the procession, are the people of credit over Egypt and all of humanity, they are the ones who made ancient Egyptian history.

He said, when we proposed the idea of a parade of royal mummies in 2019, instructions came to us from the state that the civilized image of the procession must be completed, through the development of Tahrir Square and Lake Ain Sira.

Based on the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and with a periodic follow-up from the Prime Minister, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the state developed Tahrir Square, where the large advertisements were removed, and all the buildings were painted the same color, and we decorated it by assembling parts of an obelisk that was broken in the stone sanctuary. It was restored and raised in the square, and 4 rams that were present in the Karnak temple were transferred and restored to Tahrir Square, in addition to the development of the facade of the Egyptian Museum from the outside, the development of new lighting, and the development of the garden, so the field's shape became wonderful, and we all feel proud of this beautiful development.

As for the development of Ain El-Sira Lake and the Stream of El-Ayoun, we all remember its appearance two years ago, as they were fully developed, and the lake will be a tourist and entertainment destination inside Cairo very soon.
